To add a header to your blog I never new it would be so simple. Just got to 'Layout' (in your dashboard) - Edit header. It will come up with a whole lot of options and give you the choice to either upload and image or paste a url.
I tried this out and found that the image I randomly chose to use wasn't covering the whole width of the screen and I was struggling to find out how to know what width to make it, so that I could resize my image.
